On Frequent Communion
I wittingly continue my unwittingly-commenced series on the Blessed Sacrament with today's column from The Catholic Thing, an excellent piece on the recent history and present circumstances of frequent Communion.
Wow, The Catholic Thing turned out something good. It really IS rather hit-and-miss. This one's a hit!
I agree completely with the idea of bumping up the fasting restrictions, and have also noted the tendency for people to receive without really KNOWING what it is. There needs to be greater catechesis on that level.
Your later point is definitely what concerns me most. I think that a revitalization of catechesis on the Eucharistic Sacrifice would not only improve the devotion of Catholics at large but also lend further zeal to the "reform of the reform" of the Liturgy.
